The Nicest Job in Britain is an initiative run by Utility Aid, an energy company to the third sector and corporate partner at YMCA England. At the end of 2014 the organisation set out to find itself a National Philanthropy Manager to spend time at a different charity every week for a year.
Luke Cameron, 26, who won a competition to take on the role, spent his 42nd week with YMCA, which included spending time with YMCA England and Y Care International, helping at YMCA Shops and visiting YMCA Burton, YMCA North Staffordshire and Southend YMCA.

“My recent visit to the YMCA in Lancaster was a real pleasure. Buried in the heart of the town centre, the YMCA is home to an array of projects and initiatives which engage young people from all walks of life, and from the moment I walked in I could sense the energy and enthusiasm in the air!
Fantastic news for the YMCA, we have been awarded funding from the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund to create a new outreach programme called Y:Youth.
We will receive a total of £248,126 over 3 years to develop the project which is aimed at improving the physical, emotional and social well-being of children and young people living in identified communities in the Lancaster district.
The Y:Youth project team will work closely with partner organisations to deliver a tailored, creative programme of outreach activities including sport, physical activity, creative arts, media and music. In addition the […]
