YMCA RECEIVE BIG LOTTERY GRANT TO DEVELOP YOUTH OUTREACH PROJECT

Fantastic news for the YMCA, we have been awarded funding from the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund to create a new outreach programme called Y:Youth.
We will receive a total of £248,126 over 3 years to develop the project which is aimed at improving the physical, emotional and social well-being of children and young people living in identified communities in the Lancaster district.
The Y:Youth project team will work closely with partner organisations to deliver a tailored, creative programme of outreach activities including sport, physical activity, creative arts, media and music.   In addition the […]

Boxing Star Inspires Females at Lancaster YMCA

Stacey Copeland, one of Britain’s most successful female boxers, came to inspire and motive women and girls from the Sportivate project at Lancaster YMCA. Stacey’s visit had a huge impact on the young people involved, Farrah (16 year old boxer – second from right) told Stacey, “It had made her want to work really hard to win a belt like hers!” (The ABA title belt) – “She has every chance of doing just that!” Stacy replied.

Updated – GB Boxing Stars to Inspire Young People at YMCA Lancaster

GB and England women’s boxing stars Lisa Whiteside and Stacey Copeland (both pictured) are set to inspire young people at YMCA Lancaster at their boxing project over the next couple of months. The project is one of the key initiatives to create a sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 
Lisa and Stacey are two of Britain’s top female boxers and both are national champions in their own right.
